NSS

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year, 1969. Aimed at developing student's personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities working for a campus-community linkage

Motto

The Motto of NSS is "Not Me but You", that reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service. The philosophy of the NSS is well doctrine in this motto, which underlines the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.

According to NSS essence several extension and outreach programs conducted in collaboration with industry, community and Non- Government Organizations through NSS at Baruipur College.

The N.S.S unit of the College is headed by

Different extension and outreach programs organized by NSS at Baruipur College:

  1. 14th March 2016 Interactive seminar was organised on Self-employment and Self-empowerment. Shri Nirmal Kanti Dhar, Superintended, Naraendrapur Lokshikhya Parishad delivered his lecture.
  2. 15th March 2016- NSS volunteers engaged in the cleanliness program at Biral village.
  3. 15th March 2016- free of cost, eye-testing camp was organised for the benefit of the local villagers and students. The eye-testing camp was conducted by Amrit Lions Eye Hospital, Sonarpur.
  4. 16th March 2016 - free-of-cost diabetes testing camp and an interactive session on how to prevent diabetes was organised in the college campus. Dr. Indrajit Majumder, Director, Diabetes and You offered medical advice to diabetes related concerns.
  5. 17th March 2016- interactive session was organised on the topic of Women’s Right and Women’s Safety, discussed by Prof. Afroja Khatun, Associate Professor, Surendranath Women’s College.
  6. 18th March 2016- seminar on “Child and Mother’s Health” was organised. Dr. Ardhendu Majumder, Consultant Child Specialist and Physician delivered a lecture.
  7. 19th March 2016, - Dr. Durga Ganguly, Assistant Professor, Baruipur College, conducted an interactive session on ‘Mental Health and Stress in Student Life”.
  8. 20th March 2016, - lady Officer-in-charge and two other lady police officers of Baruipur Women’s Police Station delivered lecture on Women’s empowerment in our society.
  9. 29th March 2014- Interactive session on How to Improve Mental Health conducted by Dr. Bappaditya Mandal, Consultant Doctor, Antara Psychiatric Hospital
  10. 31st March 2014- Seminar on Importance of Eye Donation in India, conducted by Dr. Malay Ray, General Secretary, International Eye Bank, Calcutta.
  11. 1st April 2014- Interactive session on Self Help and Self-Employment: The Way Forward, conducted by Sri Nirmal Kanti Dhar, Superintended, Naraendrapur Lokshikhya Parishad
  12. 1st April 2014- The NSS volunteers conducted door-to-door survey to gather important information regarding health, education and economy.
  13. 2nd April 2014- Interactive session on How to prevent Diabetes conducted by Dr Indrajit Majumder, Director, Diabetes and You. A free-of-cost diabetes testing camp was also organized.
  14. 14th March 2013- Seminar on Swami Vivekananda as an inspiration for today’s youth conducted by Prof. Swasti Dutta, Baruipur College.
  15. 14th March 2013- The NSS volunteers conducted door-to-door survey to gather important information regarding health, education and economy.
  16. 15th March 2013 NSS volunteers took active part in the cleaning the sanitation and drainage system of Biral village
  17. 15th March 2013- Free eye donation camp for local villagers organized by International Eye Bank, Calcutta.
  18. 16th March 2013- Interactive session on Prevention of Diabetes and free-of-cost diabetes testing camp conducted by Dr Indrajit Majumder, Director, Diabetes and You.
  19. 18th March 2013- Interactive session on How to prevent Dengue and Thalassemia, conducted by Dr Arabinda Halder, Chief Medical Officer of Health, Govt. of West Bengal.
