Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA)The Ministry of Homan Resource development (MHRD), Government of India had launched the national programme called Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), with the vision to involve professional and higher education institutions in the development process of rural areas in the country to achieve sustainable development and better quality of life. Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, has been designated to be the National Coordinating Institute by the Ministry. Baruipur College had registered itself as a UBA member and was selected as a Participating Institute in UBA programme. Under UBA programme every Participating Institution had to adopt a cluster of five villages to accomplish the prescribed activities. Baruipur College had selected five surrounding villages namely Uttar Kalyanpur, Hariharpur, Khasmallik, Salipur, and Baikunthapur. Group of faculty members and students actively participated in the UBA programme which included various activities such as door-to-door Household survey, Meeting with BDO and PanchyetPradhans, conducting Gram Sava Meetings, and meeting with various SHG groups to identify needs of the village community for their overall development. Following are the activities that were undertaken under the UBA programme where village community were directly involved. 1. Activity: Household survey in Uttar Kalyanpur villageDate : 31st January 2019 Door-to-door household survey was conducted in the Uttar Kalyanpur village where students and college faculty members actively participated. The household survey data were analysed and survey reports was submitted. 2. Activity: Household survey in Hariharpur villageDate: 1st February 2019

Activity: Household survey in Salipur villageDate: 4th February 2019 Door-to-door household survey was conducted in the Salipurvillage where students and college faculty members actively participated. The household survey data were analysed and survey reports was submitted. 5. Activity: Household survey in Baikunthapur villageDate: 4th February 2019 Door-to-door household survey was conducted in the Salipurvillage where students and college faculty members actively participated. The household survey data were analysed and survey reports was submitted. 6. Activity: Meeting with BDODate: 2nd July 2019 An elaborate meeting was conducted with Block Development Officer of Baruipur Block to inform the scopes, aims and objectives of the UBA programme along with the activities to be conducted in the five adopted villages to chalk out the village development plan. 7. Activity: Gram Sava meeting at Hariharpur Gram PanchayetDate: 31st July 2019 Gram Sava meeting was conducted at Hariharpur gram panchayet with the gram sava members of Hariharpur, Khasmallik, Salipur, and Baikunthapur to discuss various problems of the village and the needs that has to be mentioned in the village development plan. 8. Activity: Meeting with SHG groups at Hariharpur Gram PanchayetDate: 3rd September 2019 To address the needs of the village community that was needed to be reflected in the village development plan, an elaborate meeting was conducted with various SHG group members of Hariharpur, Khasmallik, Salipur, and Baikunthapur where the participants informed their needs to be given priority. 9. Activity: Gram Sava meeting at Kalyanpur Gram PanchayetDate: 11th September 2019 Gram Sava meeting was conducted at Kalyanpur gram panchayet with the gram sava members of Uttar Kalyanpur to discuss various problems of the village and the needs that has to be mentioned in the village development plan. 10. Activity: Meeting with SHG groups at Kalyanpur Gram PanchayetDate: 27th February 2020 A second meeting with the SHG group members of the five adopted villages was conducted in Uttar Kalyanpur gram panchayet to address the needs of the village community. After interacting with the SHG groups it was found that arrangement of vocational traings that could generate livelihood for the village women was the most prioritized need of the village community. |
