About the Department
Education as a department started in the year 1981 as a general stream. The honours course started in the year 1999-2000 with only 5 students. At present the number of students has increased manifolds with a consistent academic performance by the students. There are two full time teachers and one contractual whole time teacher in the department at present.

Infrastructural Facilities
The education department has a separate seminar library for the benefit of the honours students, with a significant number of books being added every year.
The smart classroom, with digital projection system and touch-enabled smart-board is used for screening documentary films, short films and other audio-visual content related to educational practices.

Special Activities
- The students of the department also regularly participate in green campus initiative on campus. They are encouraged to maintain the green practices within the campus , by conducting a clean drive from time to time to make the campus a plastic free zone.
- The students also take active part in the national service scheme (nss) of baruipur college.
Activities of the Department
- The department publishes a wall-magazine every year, which is planned, edited, and designed by the bengali honours and general students.
- The students participate in seminars and workshops organized by different institutions to be aware of the latest academic and technical issues related to education.
- Students participate in sports and cultural activities organized by the college.
- The department has also organized a number of ugc sponsored national seminar on various aspects of education and teaching.
- The department organizes seminars and conferences related to education.
- The department also organizes teachers’ exchange programs in collaboration with other educational institute.
Job Prospect
- Many students pursue higher studies and complete their post-graduation in education.
- A number of students are employed in school service commission
- Many students' of our department are presently serving in various government and private sectors such as banking, healthcare, police department and marketing.
